Little Red Theatre
Little Red Theatre is a Canadian children’s theatre company founded by Jody Terio and based in Toronto, Ontario. They began their journey into this wonderful children’s world in 1988 with a mission to bring entertaining and thought provoking mixed media productions in both English and French to young audiences. The Little Red Theatre produces dramatic performances of great quality theatre using a wonderful eclectic mix of puppets, songs and original musical scores, dance and audio and visual technology. Productions are aimed at the Kindergarten through Grade 8 constituency and are presented at schools, libraries and special venues performing about 2oo shows annually, inspiring about 70,000 kids each year.
Since 1992, Little Red Theatre has been a non-profit registered charity and has financed its productions through performance fees, workshops, grants and charitable donations. The lion’s share of revenues are earned, but additional funds help to upgrade productions, increase artistic fees, and improve our marketing efforts.
Their Board of Directors is drawn from the education, therapeutic and entertainment industries. Throughout the years, Little Red Theatre has hired hundreds of professional actors, set designers, choreographers, and other creative artists. Many of these artists have worked with us on several projects. Each year, Little Red Theatre strives to create original work inspired by current issues in the public eye (ie. environment), books that children love including great fairy tales and problems pertinent to children (ie. transitions and bullying).Workshops take place in the community after school, on weekends and in summer.
