Royal Botanical Gardens

Royal Botanical Gardens ( RBG ) is located in Burlington and is the largest botanical garden in Canada, a National Historic Site, and registered charitable organization with a mandate to bring together people, plants and nature. They are considered to be a living museum which serves local, regional and global communities while developing and promoting public understanding of the relationship between the plant world, humanity and the rest of nature. Four mandated areas: Horticulture, Education, Conservation and Science.



Royal Botanical Gardens’ Discovery Day Camp programs are about fun, education and respect set in one of the most biologically diverse natural areas in Canada. They provide hands-on environmental education programs that suit the ages, needs and interests of participants. Their award-winning programs feature hikes, canoeing in Cootes Paradise, games, crafts, activities and daily explorations of ecologically significant nature sanctuaries covering over 1,000 hectares of wetlands, fields and forests. Camps are offered during March break and over the summer holidays. Full and half day programs are available and are suitable for children age 4-13 years old.

Field Trips

Royal Botanical Gardens’ School Programs offer students the chance to make meaningful connections to the natural world.  Situated on 2450 acres of preserved forests, wetlands, and gardens, all of RBG’s programs are curriculum-linked and are founded on the principles of experiential learning.  Programs are age-appropriate, hands-on, exciting, and fun!

All of the school programs, offered for Kindergarten to Grade 12, are available with instruction and activities in both English and French.  Their enthusiastic teaching staff bring a great range of skills and experience to their programming, and programs can be customized to accommodate a variety of needs.  Visit website to explore the variety of outdoor and in-classroom opportunities that RBG offers.
