Joanna Moon – Performer / Musician
Québecois singer Joanna Moon is joined by the very talented bassist of Métis origin Scott Kemp in this lively and interactive performance. French World Cafe highlights the warmth of French musical culture as it has flourished around the world — exploring songs from France, Québec, Africa and Louisiana. Participants will learn how to play Québec's spoons, sings along some songs and learn “la podorythmie”, a traditional French Canadian method of tapping ones feet during musical performances, a common practice in Québécoise and Acadian music. This interactive performance provides students with the opportunity to expand their knowledge of French culture and practice their comprehension skills while gaining a better understanding of the phrase “ joie de vivre.” The performance relates to the Ontario Curriculum for Arts Education. Teacher Resource Materials and a Question and Answer session are provided.
